PTVFD was formed in 1958 by a group of concerned township citizens with the primary goal of providing fire protection to the rural township of President.

In the years since it's beginning PTVFD has expanded to include not only fire protection but also quick response medical service.

The department's mission in to serve with courage, compassion, and unity. The Primary goal of PTVFD is "no Loss of Life, Community, or Firefighter.

Proudly serving a sparse population of 543 permanent residents, the members of Station 18 expand services to protect nearly 1500 residents during the summer months, hunting, and fishing seasons.

PTVFD responds on a mutual aid basis to neighboring Venango County Departments as well as neighboring departments in Clarion and Forest counties.

Members strive to collaborate with multiple departments within the county and are also active members within the Venango County Fire Chief's Association and the Crawford-Venango County Fireman's Association Fire School.
